Liability covers you against lawsuits for physical hurt or assets damage that you or family members cause to other people. It furthermore pays for damage caused by your pets. So, if your son, daughter or dog unintentionally ruins your neighbour s high-priced rug, you are covered. However, if they demolish your rug, you are not covered. The liability part of your policy pays for equally the cost of defending you in court and any court awards, up to the boundary of your policy. You are also covered not just in your house, but wherever you are in the world. Liability limits usually start at about $100,000. Though, experts advocate that you purchase at least $300,000 worth of security. Some people feel more secure with even more coverage. You can buy an umbrella or excess liability policy, they provide broader coverage; including claims against you for libel and slander, as well as higher liability limits. In general, umbrella policies cost about $200 to $350 for $1 million of extra liability protection. Your policy furthermore provides no-fault health coverage. In the event a friend or neighbour is wounded in your home, he or she can simply send medical bills to your insurance company. This way, expenses are compensated without a liability claim being filed against you. You can in general get $1,000 to $5,000 worth of this coverage. It does not, on the other hand, pay the medical bills for your family or your pet. This pays the added costs of living away from home if you can’t live there because of damage from a fire, storm or other insured catastrophe. It covers hotel bills, restaurant meals and other living costs incurred while your home is being rebuilt.

Life - Questions and Answers about Insurance

This is because dental insurance is designed to cover costs that help prevent a dental disease. This usually entails regular check-ups, cleanings, and fillings. As a result, there is really no need to buy individual insurance. Otherwise, buying an individual dental coverage should be considered a wise step to keep your bills in control. Individual dental plans fall into two categories- Preferred Provider Plans (PPO) plans and Indemnity Plans. The major difference between these plans lies in the individual’s freedom of choosing a dentist for the treatment. Compared to indemnity plans, PPO provides coverage at a lower rate, but then the individual’s freedom of choosing a dentist becomes restricted to the ones listed in the plan’s network. In the case that a person wants to consult a doctor outside this network, he or she would have to pay a higher cost that will not be covered by the plan. The indemnity plans are more expensive, but then the patient has the freedom to opt for a dentist of his or her choice. Individual dental insurance is designed to cover both the policyholder and their family, It makes sense to get a cover for the entire family because regular dental check-ups are usually covered by plans, and this preventive measure can eliminate chances of complications to a large extent. Also, before buying dental coverage, it is essential to do a comparative study of the plans and see how much they cover in terms of diagnostic, preventive and emergency treatment. With this done, the person should try the balancing act between the cost and coverage and then buy the plan that best covers their needs. A famous poet once described visiting a dentist a vicious cycle” by saying that you visit the dentist to keep your teeth in good health, yet the reason for keeping the teeth in good health is that you don t have to visit the dentist. Simply stated, a visit to a doctor is unavoidable. Visiting a dentist may be a painful experience in itself, but spare a thought to how much your troubles can be compounded when the visit burns a deep hole in your pocket. Getting individual dental insurance is an ideal situation, more so if your employer does not cover dental insurance or if you are self-employed. Individual dental insurance is different from group dental insurance provided by the most companies. In the case of group dental insurance the company gets a discount based on the number of employees on its payroll. On the other hand, with individual dental insurance, the discount is distributed amongst the participating members.

Life - Questions and Answers about Insurance

Your goal should be to have an emergency fund available to take care of your family for 2-4 weeks (minimum)if possible. In a disaster it might be hard to even find a local bank to get cash. Debit/credit cards with a statewide or national bank would perhaps be better. Your biggest problem in getting your claim handled may be in either not having the proper homeowners insurence coverage or not having enough coverage. Most good homeowners insurence policies today cover up to 120% of your dwelling coverage limit. It is important that you review the dwelling limit with your agent every couple of year s at a minimum. Homeowners insurence policies do not cover Flooding, but you should again see your agent for this coverage. If your homeowners insurence falls short, you may qualify for money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or a disaster-assistance loan from the Small Business Administration (SBA). Homeowners can borrow up to $200,000 for rebuilding and $40,000 to replace personal property at very low interest rates for up to 30 years.

Health - Questions and Answers about Insurance

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

We all need health insurance just in case something should arise. For example, have you ever broken your arm, gotten severely sick, or even had a stomach ulcer? Well, chances are you may never suffer from any of these afflictions; but how can you know for sure? This is where life and health insurance come in handy. The fact is, the future is rather unpredictable and we simply have to prepare ourselves for the worst. Recently my wife and I invested in quality life and health insurance plans. We both want to be prepared just in case something should occur. Life insurance is essential if you have a family. If something were to happen to me, I would know that my wife and children would be taken care of. It’s truly that simple. Imagine you were in a car accident. We all know that this can and does happen every day. Well what would your spouse or family do to get by without your income? Would they be in debt up to their eyeballs? This is something to take seriously. We all want our families to be safe from harm. I took out a life and health insurance policy that covers this dilemma. Now, if I suddenly get sick and have to be hospitalized, I don’t have to worry about the enormous bills and how to pay them. In addition, if I met my demise at a premature date, my wife would be taken care of. With life and health insurance you basically erase that uneasy feeling of, what if. Sure, it’s not extremely likely that you will be unable to ever work again starting tomorrow, but what if it happened? Do you have a decent life and health insurance policy to kick in if it does? After exploring the many life and health insurance policies available today, my wife and I were able to find one that suited our needs and income. With our current life and health insurance policy we can easily afford the monthly payments. The truth is that life and health insurance are a crucial part of life these days. While none of us care to imagine the worst, it is always prudent to be prepared in the best possible way.

Health - Questions and Answers about Insurance

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Due to the rising costs of health care, finding affordable health insurance can be quite a challenge for many people. Even employer sponsored health plans can be costly; some will pay part or the entire premium for the employee, but charge the full premium for the spouse and/or children. Many companies have turned to health maintenance organizations, or HMOs, to keep affordable health insurance available to its employees. This is because dental insurence is designed to provide preventive care and this, by and large, eliminates chances of major problems. Unlike health insurence, whereby plans need to cover expensive tests, multiple treatments, and dangerous diseases, dental insurence covers diseases that are preventive by nature and even if treatment becomes essential, the diagnostic tests require little more than x-rays, and a thorough examination by the dentist. Family dental insurence also makes economic sense. People will find that in any family, there will be members who have required dental treatment at some time or the other. It can be children who require their cavities to be filled or the older generation requiring root canal treatment. If nothing else, regular visits to the dentist are an answer to keeping teeth in good condition, be it cases of bleeding gums or teeth requiring topical fluoride treatment. Routine check-ups can prove to be affordable, if covered by dental plans. Otherwise, a visit to a dentist, apart from being a painful experience, can also end up digging a deep hole in the pocket. People can afford dental insurence at reduced rates if they choose to buy PPO plans, or preferred provider organization plans. The only thing they have to sacrifice here is the freedom of choice. This means that as for as the freedom of choosing a dentist is concerned, they will have to choose a dentist who is listed in the plan’s network. People should weigh the benefits offered carefully and, given the affordable nature of the plan, they may consider this price too little a sacrifice as compared to the advantages. Affordable Dental insurence provides detailed information on Affordable Dental insurence, Dental insurence, Dental insurence Companies, Dental insurence Plans and more. Affordable Dental insurence is affiliated with California Auto insurence Comparisons. Smile and the world smiles with you. For that smile, however, one must maintain good oral hygiene and correct problems in a timely manner. A dental plan basically provides financial support for treating the various dental needs that pertain to preventive or treatment-based care.

Homeowners - Questions and Answers about Insurance

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

The Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurence is the team company that my parents always used. Maybe because they worked for employers who offered the coverage or maybe as their personal choice. So while I would tend to go with the insurence coverage they felt satisfied with, I would also take into account their other qualifications as a major health care insurence provider for one third of those Americans insured. There are presently 45 million Americans that do not have health insurence. Are you one of them? There are many reasons why people do not buy health insurence. The number one reason and most obvious is the cost. However the cost to you and your family if you do not have insurence and are struck down with a major illness may mean complete bankruptcy. Another leading reason why people do not buy health insurence is when they switch companies and have a pre-existing condition.

Life - Questions and Answers about Insurance

While it would seem that a good credit score would have nothing to do with insurance rates, it is a fact that they do. Home Insurance companies are using your credit score as an indicator of responsibility. The theory is the more responsible the individual the less claims they will have. So, insurance companies are giving lower rates to those individuals with a better credit score. Most, if not all companies that sell home insurance, offer discounts for insuring your autos with them. These discounts can sometimes save you up to 30% off of your total insurance bill. Plus, you get the added convenience of having one agent for both your home and auto insurances. Discuss with your agent about the possibilities of receiving home insurance discounts for keeping your home in good repair. Some home insurance companies will offer savings for a anew roof, electrical, HVAC, plumbing updates. The discounts are generally not enough to warrant the replacement but if you needed it anyway, be sure to get the discounts if applicable. Your home insurance coverage should not necessarily be what you paid for them home. Land values are calculated into the final sales price and should be considered when insuring the structure. In others words you cannot hurt the dirt. A good idea is to call local builders and ask them what new home construction cost per square foot is going for. Take that number, multiply that times your square footage and that is the amount that your home should be insured for. Companies will not pay more than what it is going to cost to rebuild the home anyway, so make sure you are insured correctly. The deductible is your portion of the claim that must be paid before the insurance company pays for the claim. The lower your deductible, the higher your premium will be. Deductibles can range anywhere from $100-$5000 or more. The majority of homeowners will carry a $500 deductible, but the savings one can receive by raising your deductible to $1000 can be significant, up to 20%. It doesn t take too many claim free years to make up the difference between the two deductibles, but remember you should never raise your deductible to a level that you could not afford to pay. Most of the time, an agent will make sure that you are receiving 100% of the home insurance discounts that you qualify for, but it doesn t hurt to ask. Some insurance companies have discounts that others do not. Some offer discounts that most would never dream as being a discount such as 55 and retired, non smoking, military service, law enforcement, single parent discounts, etc. Home Insurance shopping is easy. Insurance shopping online is even easier.

Home - Questions and Answers about Insurance

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

It is a false economy to avoid home insurence premiums in order to save cash in the short-term because in case of misfortune you will be left without a leg to stand on and could be faced with some of the heftiest bills you will ever come across in your life. Whether you own your house / home outright or are still paying off your mortgage, the house you own probably represents the biggest investment in your life and one of the most important factors in maintaining your well-being. Everyone wants a roof over their head to have peace of mind free from worries about their house! If you have a mortgage then your lender will usually insist that your property is covered by full buildings insurence. This is to protect themselves, as if your house were completely destroyed they would need to know that you had the means to finance its repair. Also, a homeless borrower will hardly inspire confidence in a company expecting regular mortgage repayments. Sometimes people assume that they have to stick with the insurence that they have taken out with their mortgage provider. Unless you took advantage of a special mortgage deal where you agreed to buy their home insurence then you are free to use independent insurers for your house protection. You might be encouraged to take out cover through your mortgage broker, as it is simpler for them. However, you are not obliged to do this by law, so it is well worth looking around for the best deal for your needs and making sure that you obtain the right cover at the right price.

Car - Questions and Answers about Insurance

Lessons Learned: Those of us not effected by these disasters can learn a few lessons about coping with future disasters from the thousands of policyholders that are still waiting to get their claims paid. As soon as possible, take steps to prevent further damage to your home if possible: such as covering the roof with a tarp if possible. You can hire a contractor if you can find one, as that would be safer for most of us than climbing on our roofs. Hold off making any repairs until you see or talk to an adjuster first. Plus, keep your receipts, as you ll need them to prove expenses that can be re-imbursed later. You can generally expect your homeowners insurence to help pay for additional living expenses for up to 12-24 months while your home is being repaired. But, homeowners insurence usually pays only after they verify you have a legitimate claim. After Katrina, many insurers made an exception, automatically distributing enough to cover two weeks worth of additional living expense to anyone in an area subject to mandatory evacuation. Some companies even gave small advances on contents under the personal property part of their homeowners insurence policies. If you have to wait to get your check, it helps to have cash that is easily accessible in a bank account or money market fund. Stashing cash at home isn t a great idea because if your home burns down and you weren t able to get to your cash, most homeowners insurence policies only cover $100-$200 in cash whether it is stolen or burned up in a fire.

Medicaid is a great resource for low income health insurance for many of these families.
