Homeowners - Questions and Answers about Insurance

We all need health insurance just in case something should arise. For example, have you ever broken your arm, gotten severely sick, or even had a stomach ulcer? Well, chances are you may never suffer from any of these afflictions; but how can you know for sure? This is where life and health insurance come in handy. The fact is, the future is rather unpredictable and we simply have to prepare ourselves for the worst. Recently my wife and I invested in quality life and health insurance plans. We both want to be prepared just in case something should occur. Life insurance is essential if you have a family. If something were to happen to me, I would know that my wife and children would be taken care of. It’s truly that simple. Imagine you were in a car accident. We all know that this can and does happen every day. Well what would your spouse or family do to get by without your income? Would they be in debt up to their eyeballs? This is something to take seriously. We all want our families to be safe from harm. I took out a life and health insurance policy that covers this dilemma. Now, if I suddenly get sick and have to be hospitalized, I don’t have to worry about the enormous bills and how to pay them. In addition, if I met my demise at a premature date, my wife would be taken care of. With life and health insurance you basically erase that uneasy feeling of, what if. Sure, it’s not extremely likely that you will be unable to ever work again starting tomorrow, but what if it happened? Do you have a decent life and health insurance policy to kick in if it does? After exploring the many life and health insurance policies available today, my wife and I were able to find one that suited our needs and income. With our current life and health insurance policy we can easily afford the monthly payments. The truth is that life and health insurance are a crucial part of life these days. While none of us care to imagine the worst, it is always prudent to be prepared in the best possible way.

When you take our your homeowner policy you’ll want to be sure and buy enough coverage for total reconstruction of your home Most standard homeowner policies also protect structures on your property although detached from your home, such as in-law quarters, garage or gazebo. It’s common practice to cover these unattached structures for ten percent of the covered value of your house. Should any of your clothing, electronic equipment, furnishings, or other personal belongings be destroyed by insured disaster, or stolen, they are covered by your homeowner policy. Most carriers cover them at the rate of 50-70 percent of the total dollar figure of your home structure’s coverage. There is also a clause in your homeowner policy for coverage of off-premises items. Which means that if you take your personal belongings elsewhere and they become lost or damaged your homeowner policy will generally reimburse you at least ten percent of the amount of coverage that you have on them when they are on your home premises. Homeowner policies also provide up to $500 of protection against unauthorized credit card use as well. For high priced items like jewelry and fur a standard homeowner policy will usually limit your coverage to $100-$2000. You can purchase coverage up to appraised value for an additional charge. In either case there is no deductible and coverage includes your accidental loss of the items. Foliage around your home such as trees and shrubs also come under the protection of your homeowner policy. Usually the money figure is five percent of the home’s insured value, but up to $500 for each bloom. They are protected against even riots, vandalism, explosion and airplane crashes. They are not insured against wind or disease damage.

Those with low credit ratings are usually charged higher premiums than those with better credit scores. Whether or not you have been covered by car insurance continuously is also a factor. If there are gaps in your coverage, they will assume that you have had periods of uninsured driving. Because driving without insurance is very unsafe and also very illegal, insurance companies take this into consideration when considering your rate. Though it can take several years of clean driving to erase the high-risk driver label, it can still be done. Three years is the industry standard for reassessing a driver s safety standing. If you have a clean record for a three-year period, you can work your way back to the benefits of lower premiums. However, three years worth of high premiums can really add up over time. If you are a high-risk driver, there are still ways to lower your insurance payments. With a little research, you can reduce your payments by a fair amount. There are many car insurance companies that offer free quotes online. Rather than meeting with salespeople or playing phone tag with agents, Internet sites will give you a quote in minutes. This makes comparison-shopping easier than ever. There are even websites that will find a list of quotes for you. This process may take a few days, but the results are typically worth it. Working toward a clean driving record is the best way to ensure that you will get the best car insurance rates. Avoid congested areas whenever possible, and be sure to slow down in reduced speed zones. Be aware of your surroundings and never speed, and you will be on your way to a successful reduction in your rates.

Another leading reason why people do not buy health insurance is when they switch companies and have a pre-existing condition. Often times a new company will not insure a person that has been diagnosed with a disease or chronic condition because they are considered a high use risk. Even though companies want you to buy health insurance they do not necessarily want you to use it. There are many alternative programs in most States in the United States that offer plans to people that have been denied insurance due to a pre-existing condition. These are not always well publicized but certainly worth looking into if you or a member of your family fits into this category, and not an option to overlook as you buy health insurance.

Both large and small employers offer some form of dental plan to their employees as part of their comprehensive benefit policy. The preferred form of the dental plan that is normally offered is the individual dental discount plan. It is an undeniable truth that regular routine checkups and cleanings by the dentist are the easiest ways to maintain oral health. Most dental plans are structured towards covering the cost of these procedures, which come under preventive care. However, they do not cover treatments such as orthodontics, esthetics or cosmetic restoration such as fillings, crowns, braces and implants. The escalating premiums required for dental insurance, increased deductibles and extended periods of waiting time have all served to drive families and individuals more in favor of discount dental plans. The advantage of the policy is that it is specifically tailored to cover the person, spouse and unmarried, dependent children. Additionally, it can also be included on Federal income tax returns. In spite of the tax benefits afforded by dental insurance, in recent times more people opt for the individual discount dental plan where the person is obliged to meet the expenses for the services rendered. The discount offered on the wide variety of services is the major attraction.

Another way to check the customer service of a company is to find a claims telephone number on their website and call it up. If their claims people are nice to you, the likelihood of the customer service being a positive team has just raised. After you have assessed the courtesy level of the auto insurence company’s service department, then politely thank them for their time and hang up. No explanation necessary, they will just move on to their next call without giving you another thought. This technique is based on the theory that there are two kinds of companies: the ones who stock their sales teams with friendly people and put all the low-paid mean folks in their claims departments and the ones who stock both with friendly, professionals. Usually, this simple test will tell you the type of company with which you are dealing. If the quoted auto insurence policy has both the assets you desire and a high quality of customer service, then the quote is a true quote. Remember if you think you might end up actually using the car insurence–which we should all assume we will–then check these two things before running after the apparently low premiums. Disputes, especially when it comes to settling insurence claims, are not new scenarios. In fact, they take place every day. Just what causes these disputes? Well, one of the obvious reasons is most policy holders think that they deserve to be paid a larger settlement than what they receive. Second, claims are slow to process. And third, claims are denied.
